| CONTRIBUTORS Sarthi Acharya is Professor, Rural Studies Division, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Bombay. He has also been a Visiting Scholar at the Institute for Social Studies, the Hague, the Asian Studies Center, Boston University, and the Agricultural University at Bogor, Indonesia. He is the author of many papers on the rural economy in India, including work on the labour market, poverty and women. Ruperto Alonzo is Professor, School of Economics, University of the Philippines, Quezon City and Director of its Program in Development Economics. He has been a consultant of the ADB, ILO/ARTEP, UN/ESCAP and UNIDO. He has published articles on Philippine development issues such as labour markets, education and the informal sector. He was editor of the Philippine Economic Journal from 1985 to 1991. Jamilah Ariffin is Associate Professor, Faculty of Economics and Administration, University of Malaya. Her work focuses on women and development, and industrialization and social change. She was a member of the Commonwealth Expert Group on ‘Women and Structural Adjustment’. She is the author and editor of several books, book chapters and journal articles on women, and women workers in Malaysia. Moo Ki Bai is Professor, Department of Economics, and also Director of the Institute of Economic Research, Seoul National University, Korea. He has also been a member of several important national committees such as the National Committee for Industrial Relations. He has written and edited eight books and numerous publications on labour issues in Korea. Dwayne Benjamin is Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Toronto. He has also been a consultant for the World Bank. His fields of research include labour economics, development economics and econometrics, and he has several papers and publications on labour markets including work on rural labour markets in Indonesia, women in the labour force in China, and immigrants in the labour market in Canada. -xvi- |
