Click Preferences from the Read or Workspace or Projects menu to open the Preferences dialogue box.
In the Citations section, select the citation style. The default is MLA (Modern Language Association). The style you select becomes the default style used for both the citations within the paper (like footnotes) as well as bibliography entries. See Citation Style Examples for more information.
Select the citation type. Click one of the following, if available:
Create citations as parenthetical references [e.g., (Dickens, 1859)] (This is the default.)
Create citations as footnotes/endnotes
Select which entries to include in your bibliography: highlights, margin notes, bookmarks/bookshelf.
Click Save at the bottom of the page to apply the new setting and close the Preferences dialogue box.
Note
All changes made in Preferences become the new default settings. You can also adjust these settings when you make a new citation, or when you create a bibliography.
