When reading a book or article on the Questia service, you can create citations for those works that are relevant to your research. The Create Bibliography tool automatically creates a bibliography based on these previously cited publications.
Note
The bibliography is automatically created from the entries in the current project. Make sure that you set the project you want as the current project before creating your bibliography. See Setting the Current Project for more information.
To create a bibliography
In Read or Workspace or Projects, click on the Bibliography button.
From the Bibliography menu, click Create Bibliography. The Create Bibliography dialog box appears.
Select one of the following styles:
The default style is MLA. You can change the default style in Preferences.
Select the types of items (cited publications, highlighted publications, etc.) you want to include in your bibliography. To leave out a type of item, click in the box by that item type to make the checkmark disappear. You can change the included types of items in Preferences. Quoted and cited publications are always included in the bibliography.
When you are ready to create your bibliography, click Next. The Bibliography Sources dialog box appears.
Select which available titles to include in your bibliography. If you want to remove any titles from the bibliography, click the box by the title to remove the checkmark.
Your bibliography will appear in a window. This window uses the application your system defaults to for opening RTF (Rich Text Format) documents. If you do not see a window open, or if you see a window that says "Your citation is below" but there is no citation below, check to see if it is hidden behind the Questia window.
If your system does not have a default set for RTF documents, you will be given the option of opening or saving the bibliography. If you choose to open the bibliography, use an application that accepts RTF documents (most word processors do accept RTF). If you choose to save your bibliography, save it with the file name extension .rtf You can then open your bibliography in any word processing application that accepts .rtf files.
Copy and paste your bibliography into your paper, or save it using the file extension appropriate for your word processor (e.g., for Microsoft Word, end your file name with .doc). In most systems, you can save the bibliography using the Save As function from the File menu.
The citations in your bibliography act as links back to the cited item on the Questia service. If you click on it from your paper, it will open a web browser and attempt to connect to the cited publication. For more information, including how to edit a linked citation, see Linking to Referenced Publications from a Word Processor.
Always verify the accuracy of your bibliography style.
