QUESTIA MEDIA EXPANDS ITS REACH FROM THE COLLEGE CONSUMER TO THE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT WITH NEW PARTNERSHIP

Strategic Partnership with LanierThinking Expands Questia Sales into Secondary School Market

Chicago (September 27, 2004) – Questia Media Inc., the world’s largest online academic library, today announced its partnership with LanierThinking to expand sales of its online academic library to the secondary school education market. This growth reflects the industry’s need to cost-effectively grow current high school library collections, while providing all students with equal access to the highest quality academic resources. Questia meets the research needs of secondary school students by providing 50,000 academically vetted, full-text books in English Language Arts and Social Studies.

“Over the past several years, we’ve experienced widespread success in the higher education market with our online academic library,” said Troy Williams, president and CEO of Questia Media. “Now, we’re seeing a high level of demand for Questia’s online library as a companion to physical libraries in secondary schools, giving students freedom and mobility with access to a 24-7 online library. We see our strategic partnership with LanierThinking as a critical distribution channel for us to reach education stakeholders in key states.”

As part of the partnership, Questia is leveraging LanierThinking’s well-established, nationwide representative network to drive sales in the secondary school market across the country. As a result, Questia now has a strong presence of independent sales representatives in key states.

“Given our 50 collective years experience in the education market, we feel we are the right partners to successfully assist Questia with its entrance into the secondary school market,” said Peggy Lanier, president of LanierThinking, Inc.  “We see the great benefits that Questia brings to the education community. They are exactly the type of visionary company with an innovative service that we want to represent.”

Questia’s online academic library enables students to gain anytime, anywhere access to a first-rate, 24-hour library focused in the English Language Arts and Social Studies. The online library includes more than 50,000 academically vetted, full-text books and more than 400,000 journal articles, as well as a customizable online research environment and a powerful set of research tools. As a result, students can quickly and easily set their own workspace and reading preferences, create project folders and personal bookshelves and automatically develop properly formatted footnotes and bibliographies in seven different citation styles.
