Wiley and Questia Announce Licensing Agreement

Publisher to Provide Content to Online Academic Library

HOUSTON (June 13, 2005) -- Questia Media, Inc., the world’s largest online academic library and research service announced today an agreement with John Wiley & Sons, Inc. (NYSE: JWa)(NYSE: JWb), to license more than 1,300 of the publisher’s books and 30 of its journals. Beginning in summer 2005, Questia will provide customers, via its online service, with access to books and journals from Wiley’s Professional/Trade and Scientific, Technical and Medical publishing programs including back volumes dating back to 1997.

Questia’s business model, which is based on individual subscriptions for students and educators at community colleges, provides publishers with a new channel to reach this market, where the demand for access to professional-level backlist and out-of-print books and journal content is growing rapidly. Questia offers its publishers intellectual property protection from digital copyright violation since its content is not available for downloading or off-line viewing and the books are displayed one page at a time, maintaining the original pagination.

“We are excited to partner with one of the most distinguished publishing houses in the industry,” said Troy Williams, president and CEO of Questia. “We are pleased to provide these valuable new resources to students and educators who enjoy the 60,000 full-text books and over one million journal, magazine and newspaper articles available on Questia for scholarly research.”

“We are pleased to be able to work with Questia to better meet the needs of our customers in the community college market,” said Kristin Kliemann, vice president and director of Global Rights for Wiley. “We believe offering our content in Questia’s Online Library will give students and instructors convenient access to the content they need to succeed.”

Wiley joins more than 250 other top commercial publishers and university presses, including Palgrave Macmillan, Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Perseus Books Group, Taylor & Francis, Princeton University Press and Columbia University Press, among others, who have licensed content to the Questia library.
