QUESTIA AWARDS $3.5 MILLION IN SCHOLARSHIPS TO FINAL FOUR SCHOOLS

Questia Media, Inc., Recognizes Academic and Athletic Excellence
HOUSTON (April 12, 2001) - Questia Media, Inc., today announces its $3.5 million Champion Award Program. In recognition of the academic and athletic excellence of the four schools that made it to the NCAA Final Four men's basketball championship, all students and faculty at Duke University, Michigan State University, the University of Arizona and the University of Maryland will be awarded scholarships to Questia, the first online library with a collection of over 35,000 books. More than 100,000 students and faculty at the four schools will receive the scholarship, in the form of a free subscription beginning April 12 and extending through May 31. The total value of Questias donation is estimated at $3.5 million.

Questia's online library features the full-text of 35,000 books with powerful research and writing tools designed to help students write better papers. The free subscription is available to students for the remainder of the current semester to assist them with research paper assignments and final exams.

We wanted to honor the schools whose scholar athletes led them to the Final Four - an impressive accomplishment that demonstrates the athletic skill and academic excellence necessary to achieve this level of performance, said Troy Williams, founder and CEO of Questia Media, Inc. The Internet should advance education and make credible information more readily accessible to all those who can benefit from it. A service like Questia is a step in that direction. The convenience and time-savings of being able to do online research whenever and wherever students desire, with a collection of 35,000 scholarly books, enables students to write high-quality papers more quickly - allowing them to pursue other interests such as athletics.

In addition to recognizing the athletic and academic achievements of students on these campuses, Questia is honoring professors at the four schools who have contributed published works to the Questia site. More than 30 professors/authors are being celebrated at receptions this month on each of their respective campuses. (Listing attached)

We owe a great deal to the authors who provide their works for our site, especially those who are closest to the students -- professors, said Williams. Their published works contain important ideas and valuable information, and they represent the authors' hard work and determination. These professors deserve as much recognition as the athletic teams of their institutions.

"We are proud that Duke students and faculty have been recognized by Questia for their achievements on and off the court," stated David Ferriero, Vice Provost for Library Affairs. The free subscription that Questia is providing our students for the remainder of this semester is a wonderful complement to the Duke libraries' electronic full-text collection. We are also excited about the opportunity to work with Questia to develop a program for the fall.

Duke University is located in Durham, NC; Michigan State University is located in East Lansing, MI; the University of Arizona is located in Tucson, AZ; and the University of Maryland is located in College Park, MD.

Students from the four schools can log onto www.questia.com/explore/winners for their free subscriptions, available through May 31.
