I like my food. It is one of life's great pleasures and however much I would like to lose a few pounds - well, a couple of stones actually - I am not prepared to be miserable with it.
And, being a post-war baby, I was brought up to eat everything on my plate no matter how off-putting. When I was growing up my mother seemed to be serving the family nothing but leftovers.
The original meal has never been found. But the training is now reflected on my hips.
