THE Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund is bracing itself for another massive legal bill, expected to be more than [pounds sterling]1million, from law firm Mishcon de Reya.
The same company charged the fund [pounds sterling]500,000 for 11 weeks' work following the Princess's death.
One volunteer close to the fund said the new revelations 'threaten to be another publicity disaster for both Mishcon de Reya and the fund.
People will be very concerned.' The disclosure last year was embarrassing for Anthony Julius, then Mishcon's senior partner and unpaid chairman of the fund's trustees. Mr Julius has returned to academic life and another firm, Harbottle & Lewis, is running most of the fund's legal affairs.
However, Mishcon de Reya continues to act for the fund in a battle with souvenir makers the Franklin Mint to stop the sale of unauthorised Diana memorabilia.
A spokesman for the fund said the full accounts - which take in legal fees - were being audited and would be made public in June.
