Asian Development Bank (ADB), one of the largest multilateral development finance institutions dedicated to reducing poverty in Asia and in the Pacific, has commissioned Spanish consulting firm SOLUZIONA Philippines to spearhead two of its energy-related projects in the neighboring Asian countries.
Specifically, Soluziona was tapped to formulate a Regional Power Trade Operating Agreement in the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS), which includes Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Yunnan Province in China. This Technical Assistance (TA) will help in establishing the basic principles and rules to promote and carry out regional power trade.
Soluziona will provide the consulting expertise enabling these countries to prepare their technical and commercial operating agreements for the implementation and operation of regional power trade, explained Soluziona Utilities consultant Ryan Velasco. Furthermore, as some of these countries are net exporters of electricity while others are net importers of electricity, this framework shall enable the different countries to profit from each others strengths in the electricity sector.
He added that the project will also facilitate the operation of regional power trade so as to provide reliable and economic electricity supply to consumers if each country, consistent with reasonable utilization of natural resources and careful consideration of effect on the environment. …
