"Iyo ang Katarungan" host Justice Presbitero J. Velasco, who was awarded recently awarded a Plaque of Merit and Appreciation by the Philippine Judges Association led by its president Judge Romeo Barza, secretary general Judge Marlene Sison, and deputy secretary general Judge Rey Alhambra, has also been endorsed by the Judicial and Bar Council as its top choice to fill the post vacated last November 2003 by SC Justice Josue Bellosillo.
Justice Velasco was cited for his vital role in the enactment of Rep. Act No. 9227 which granted special allowances to justices, judges, and court personnel and for his numerous projects and programs which significantly resulted in reducing case delay and ensuring the delivery of fair, impartial and swift justice.
"Iyo Ang Katarungan," a public service program shown on IBC 13 every Saturday at 11 p.m., ushers in its third season with its improved format by inviting government officials like senators, congressmen, Cabinet secretaries and other heads of government agencies and offices to elucidate the nature of their work, the functions and projects of their offices and the laws sponsored by the legislators. This program lays stress on public information and dissemination of program, projects, laws, rules and regulations so the public more particularly the poor will obtain maximum benefits therefrom and so that their rights will be safeguarded. The segment "Tulong Katarungan" caters to the requests of our countrymen for counseling and assistance on the problems they encounter in their court cases.
