Villar files 325 bills
Sen. Manuel Villar Jr. yesterday filed 325 bills when the Senate Bills and Index Service started accepting them, earning him the record of having the most number of bills filed by a senator for the 13th Congress
Villar, president of the Nacionalista Party, said his legislative agenda would complement President Gloria Macapagal Arroyos 10-point program to fight poverty within the next six years.
His bills focus on entrepreneurship training, maintaining peace and order, improving the quality of education and health care, protecting overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), breaking cartels and monopolies, and protecting the environment.
With a vision to build a strong entrepreneurial class, Villar proposed to establish the National Commission on Entrepreneurial Education (NCEE) to guide students in learning the principles of free enterprise and encourage entrepreneurship.
He also sought to open Business One- Stop Shop (BOSS) Centers that would help businessmen fulfill the documentary requirements of putting up a business enterprise.
By encouraging our people to become entrepreneurs, we would be able to create more jobs instead of waiting for foreign investors to come in or deploy our people overseas to work, he said.
