1. BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE (2002)

Michael Moore's landmark documentary on American gun culture is both a scathing condemnation of corporate greed and an examination of Generation X's social dislocation. By turns hilariously funny and deadly serious, it touched a nerve the world over. And it includes one film appearance Charlton Heston won't want to remember.
