A total of P2.5 million awaits this years winners of Makati Citys Search for Cleanest and Greenest Barangays, Health Centers, Public Schools, Fire Sub-Stations and Police Community Precincts for 2004.
Mayor Jejomar C. Binay said the annual search aims to give recognition to those who are active partners of the city government in its campaign to promote environmental protection and preservation.
"Every year, Makati recognizes the barangays and other government agencies based in the city who have done their share to protect the environment," Binay said.
The search covers 33 barangays, 36 public schools, 29 health centers, 10 police precincts, and 10 fire sub-stations.
First prize winners in each category will receive plaques and cash prizes of P125,000, while 2nd and 3rd placers will get plaques and P75,000 and P50,000, respectively.
The citys 33 barangays were grouped into four clusters to ensure that low-income barangays would get a fair chance in winning just like the affluent villages in Makati. …
