On a sultry Monday night in New Orleans, just days before Hurricane Ivan sent everyone scrambling for higher ground, OCCUPATIONAL HAZARDS honored the 2004 America's Safest Companies (ASC).
It's easy to have fun in New Orleans, and representatives from many of the 2004 America's Safest Companies--Anheuser-Busch Inc., Bell Helicopter, Denark Construction Inc., DeFabCo, DSM Desotech Inc., Energy Northwest, Ford, Bacon & Davis, Freudenberg-NOK, Inland Printing Co., L'Oreal USA, Milliken & Co., Monsanto Co., Packerland-Plainwell Inc., Rohm and Haas, Smurfit-Stone Container Corp., Texas Instruments and Washington Group International--did just that at a champagne reception at historic Muriel's Restaurant on Jackson Square on Sept. 13. Representatives from ASC sponsors MCR Safety and PureSafety were also in attendance.
Larry Garner, president of domestic sales for MCR Safety, said his company chose to sponsor the program because they saw it as "a perfect blend of our mission as a company and the promotion of safety in the workplace.
