SCOTLAND'S first billionaire has been revealed as a DUTCHMAN who is controversially trying to bring wolves and lynx back into the countryside.
Wildlife philanthropist Paul van Vlissingen, 64, is worth a whopping pounds 1,100million.
He tops Scotland's rich list after buying the sprawling 81,000 acre Letterewe estate in Ross-shire 25 years ago.
But while he is incredibly weathy, his fortune is a pittance compared to that of Indian steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal, 54.
Mittal tops the Sunday Times UK Rich List of 1,000 people with a truly incredible personal fortune of pounds 14.8billion.
It is the highest evaluation ever achieved in the list's 17-year history.
Mittal's cash mountain dwarfs the pounds 7,500million fortune of Russian Roman Abramovich, who owns Chelsea, and topped the list last year.
And Mittal is a lavish spender - blowing a mere pounds 30m on his daughter Vanisha's six-day wedding to banker Amit Bhatia in Paris last year.
Mittal even forked out pounds 200,000 to get Aussie pop princess Kylie Minogue to sing in front of Vanisha's 1,000 guests.
Dutch businessman Van Vlissingen stays at Letterewe with long term partner Caroline Mackenzie and their two daughters.
He enjoys painting and writing poetry and is passionate about Scotland's wildlife and scenery. …
