PPORTUNITIES come and go, but sometimes you have to create your own - and that is exactly how Euan Blake became business development manager at leading Liverpool creative agency October Communications.
Having targeted Merseyside for his next big move (due to his son starting at school in the city) and, after carefully reviewing key PR and marketing agencies in the region, Euan decided that October was the winning team for him before joining in March this year.
His expertise now provides the team at October with first-rate consumer PR and business development skills.
However, Euan's childhood and upbringing was deeply rooted in rugby union. Said Euan: 'My dad, Ronnie, was a bit of a local hero at rugby and, as a young lad, I grew up helping out at the club, including behind the bar.' This experience led to Euan graduating with a business degree in hospitality management at Napier University, in Edinburgh.
Following a year out travelling, Euan returned to Edinburgh and briefly worked in events and exhibitions before project managing the launch of the free Metro newspaper in Scotland.
While deciding about his future career, Euan was approached to attend interviews with leading world media group McCannErickson, which provided him with his first break in consumer PR. …
