PUERTO PRINCESAKerby Raymundo and James Yap scored all but two of Purefoods last 13 points as the TJ Hotdogs capped an 91-85 victory over the Barangay Ginebra Kings in the Gran Matador PBA Fiesta Conference at the Puerto Princesa Coliseum.
Purefoods victory raised its win-loss card to 6-7a record shared by three other teamswhile Ginebra joined Coke at the cellar with a 5-8 record.
Ginebra saw its 10-game winning streak on the road snapped by Purefoods, the last team that defeated the Kings in an out-of-town game.
Their loss last night was the longest since coach Siot Tanquingcen took over the team in April last year.
"We were finally able to win a close game and that says a lot about the character of this team," said Purefoods coach Ryan Gregorio.
After Ginebra wrested a 79-76 lead near the halfway mark of the fourth quarterthe first time the Kings held the upper hand since the first periodYap drilled a three-pointer to tie the game and canned two charities to help Purefoods go up, 81-79, with 4:13 left in the game.
