Wayne Messmer, the voice of Wrigley Field, will be the keynote speaker for the first breakfast and fund-raising event designed to boost the finances of Samaritan Interfaith Counseling Center in Naperville.
The breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cress Creek Country Club, 1215 Royal St. George, Naperville.
Supported by 15 Naperville churches, Samaritan Interfaith Counseling Center provides counseling and psychotherapy for individuals, couples, families and groups. However, the organization felt a need for a fund-raising event to shore up its budget for subsidizing services for low-income people. The demand for services continues to grow, as people seek out help dealing with issues like depression, anxiety, grief and loss, divorce and blended family concerns.
"We offer mental health counseling to anyone regardless of their ability to pay," said Linda Kolaya, development director. "We provide a subsidy to people who can't afford it."
Last year, the center subsidized $235,000 worth of services and the numbers continue to grow every year, she added.
