Starting a New Year of Learning for the Nation's Elementary, High School, College, and University Students

CLASSES from the elementary to college levels start today for most of the nations public and private schools. The Department of Education (DepEd) has taken the necessary steps to make sure that all the requirements for todays resumption of classes in public elementary and high schools are in place.

After mobilizing community members in the Brigada Eskwela program, dispatching the required learning resources, and preparing to hire over 10,000 more teachers, the DepEd is optimistic that the learning process in public schools will hit the ground running from todays opening.

With most of the nations 17 to 20 million elementary and high school students served by public schools, the DepEds task of securing the required human and material resources for these schools is indeed gargantuan. Meanwhile, the higher education level, more than a million students restart the process of acquiring, applying, and producing new knowledge as classes in many State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) under the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) resume today. …
