VIOLENT men who attack their partners are to be targeted in a major new campaign launched in Coventry today.
Police will launch extra patrols to fight domestic violence and men who drink heavily before attacking their wives or girlfriends face a ban from local pubs.
Home Office cash will be used to fund wide-ranging measures in the city over the next eight weeks and police predict it will lead to hundreds of arrests.
Supt Lorraine Bottomley, of Coventry's Stoney Stanton Road police station, said: "The message to offenders is clear - domestic abuse will not be tolerated."
