LEADING stores have been accused of failing to stock clothes to fit the average woman.

While women are getting taller and stronger, designer clothes are getting skimpier.

And being size 16 - the same size as screen siren Marilyn - means you are going to find a limited choice at places such as Brown Thomas and Harvey Nichols. This is even though the average size of Irish women is between 14 and 16 and it is no longer necessarily an indication that someone is unhealthy or overweight.

Weightwatchers Ireland last night said many younger members were unable to find nice, affordable clothes.
