A SUPERB fifth-minute header from Paul O'Neill sent Bangor City into the Welsh Cup final and maintained their European dreams.
Skipper and man of the match O'Neill also proved a hero in defence as Bangor withstood periods of Llanelli pressure to earn their place against Rhyl or Port Talbot.
City made the perfect start on a sodden Aberystwyth ground where both sides had suffered recent league defeats.
Paul Roberts' persistence won a corner on the left and O'Neill was left unmarked to send a bullet header past Reds goalkeeper Duncan Roberts.
Llanelli hit back strongly and City rarely threatened again until the closing minutes of the first half.
Stuart Edwards, Jacob Mingorance and Cortez Belle all went close as Llanelli sought parity but having weathered the storm City almost doubled their advantage when Carl Lamb forced a fine save from Roberts.
Both sides enjoyed early second-half opportunities before Llanelli gradually gained the upper hand again.
