Tyne and Wear training provider Access Training Limited has successfully launched two exciting programmes to develop the skills of adult employees working in the rail and textile sectors.
With over pounds 700,000 of European Social Fund investment secured to deliver these programmes, the Team Valley company will certainly have its hands full for the next two years. Fortunately, it has a number of partner organisations lining up to help.
Future Textiles is being delivered with the support of the Sector Skills Council for Clothing and Textiles (Skillfast-uk), and is available to any individual or employer within the sector operating in Tyne and Wear. On the Right Lines covers the rail sector, with strong representation from Nexus and specialist training provider Performance Development Limited (PDL).
Access Training managing director Malcolm Armstrong explains: "Both sectors had identified skills shortages and problems in accessing quality training provision. We've pulled together specialist training providers to work with us and offer a wide range of provision, responding to the needs of employers in these sectors."
Both programmes offer employers support in developing company-wide training plans, initial assessment of employees and free training to NVQs at level 2, 3 and 4. They cover a wide range of subjects (administration, accounting, management, customer service, warehousing) as well as specialist rail and textiles manufacturing qualifications.
A project co-ordinator visits companies to undertake a training needs analysis, and the results are passed to Access Training to organise programmes. …
