SIR - With regard to Jeff Jones's letter of August 17, did Mr Jones actually read the article by Professor Sheehan (Western Mail, August 14)?
In the very first sentence of the article Professor Sheehan was reported to have said, '... the phenomenon of British Muslims prepared to carry out attacks on their own soil is the result of British foreign policy'.
Excuse me, there is no legal precedence in the UK that says British foreign policy is responsible for terrorist acts committed on British soil. As Kim Howells pointed out recently in an article published by the BBC, 'I have no doubt there are many issues which incite people to loathe government policies but not to strap explosives to themselves and go out and murder innocent people'.
As a fellow Brit, I would recommend law-abiding British citizens vote an unpopular government out at the ballot box come election time and do not strap explosives to themselves like the July 7 bombers who killed and maimed many people on the London Underground. …
