Indian Prairie Picks Principals for Watts, Young Elementary Schools

Two familiar faces will begin new jobs next fall at the helm of schools in Indian Prairie Unit District 204.

Hill Middle School Principal Mike Raczak will become principal at Watts Elementary in Naperville and Adrienne Morgan, formerly a principal at Longwood Elementary, takes over at Young Elementary in Aurora.

District 204 includes 21 elementary schools, six middle schools and two high schools serving about 29,000 children from portions of Naperville, Aurora, Bolingbrook and Plainfield.

"People talk about lifelong learning and change and re-creating yourself and I figured, if there was a time, this would be the time to do that," said Raczak of his transition from leading a middle school to an elementary school. "What I think is different is the educational experience of the children and the parents."

Raczak, 54, a father of two from Naperville, began his career in 1974 teaching adolescents with profound disabilities and spent the next 19 years working in special education. He was named assistant principal at Hill in 1991 and principal two years later.

Since then, he's twice been recognized for outstanding achievement by the Association of Middle Level Schools and earned a place in the Top 100 Successful Middle Schools by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. …
