LAWRIE Sanchez has described speculation over his future with Northern Ireland as "a distraction I don't need" ahead of tonight's European clash against Liechtenstein (7.15).
The Northern Ireland boss insists he has not spoken to the IFA about signing a new contract after his current deal expires at the end of this 2008 European qualifying campaign.
IFA Chief Executive Howard Wells has indicated he wants Sanchez to stay on for the World Cup 2010 adventure and talks may take place following next Wednesday night's home clash with Sweden.
However Sanchez was adamant last night that his number one priority is on getting three points in Vaduz tonight.
"I have had no discussions with anyone at the IFA about my future and this is a distraction I don't need," he claimed.
"Maybe next Thursday would be the time to talk about that but it's not on my agenda now. I am concentrating on trying to win a football match."
Sanchez has never hidden his ambition to land a club job in England but at the moment he is hard to read. …
