Underdog Florida defeated top-ranked Ohio State 41-14 to win the national football championship at Glendale, Ariz. Ted Ginn Jr. returned the opening kickoff for an Ohio State touchdown, but the Gators scored 41 of the next 48 points to win the game in a rout.

BASKETBALL Dec. 23, 2006

The largest crowd in O'Connell Center history watched the defending national champs dominate the No. 3 Buckeyes by shooting 74 percent in the second half. The game was tied early in the second half before UF went on a 33-9 run. "I am in shock,'' OSU guard Ron Lewis said after the game.

BASEBALL Feb. 25, 2006

Bryan Augenstein struck out 10 in seven innings as the Gators beat the Buckeyes 10-3 in the Pepsi Baseball Classic at Gainesville. Adam Davis hit a three-run homer for the Gators, who were ranked No. 1 in the nation at the time.

QUIZ BOWL July 2005

A University of Florida team of students won the annual North American Academic Quiz Bowl competition at Providence, R.I. According to UF, the three-person team from the school's College of Agricultural and Life Sciences won a 32-team bracket that included Ohio State. …
