A collection of impressionist, modern and contemporary artwork is being previewed today, ahead of a sale next week that will see up to pounds 454m worth of art being sold.
Auction house Sotheby's said next week's auction will see sales that are set to be the highest value series ever staged by the company in Europe.
Starring in the sale is a pounds 10-15m Claude Monet - an "iconic" work from the artist's celebrated water lilies series, which Sotheby's said is one of the finest ever to have come on the market.
Monet's Nympheas of 1904 is described as an "arresting, richly-coloured" seminal painting.
It is one of the earliest examples in the series in which he focused almost entirely on the water surface, marking a move towards an increasingly abstract treatment of space.
Sotheby's said that whenever works from the series have come to auction, they have commanded premium prices.
