The failure of any receiver besides Santana Moss to produce during Washington's 2005 season prompted the Redskins to splurge the ensuing offseason on wideouts Antwaan Randle El and Brandon Lloyd.
But now the Redskins have re-signed one of those washed-out wideouts, Jimmy Farris, to replace the injured Lloyd on the roster. Lloyd broke his collarbone during Wednesday's practice and was placed on season-ending injured reserve yesterday.
Farris, 29, caught one pass for 18 yards while playing mostly on special teams in four games in 2005. Lloyd wasn't much more effective with 25 catches for 379 yards in 23 games.
