PARAMILITARY mural artists are being invited to Liverpool to help paint derelict city buildings after a culture funding U-turn.
The move means project organisers can now sign-up republican and loyalist artists from Northern Ireland to revamp rundown houses with non-political themes about Liverpool life.
Liverpool culture company agreed to give the initiative a pounds 10,000 grant despite rejecting it for funding earlier this year.
The murals will also celebrate Liverpool's cultural links with Ireland and be partly painted by Merseyside artists.
Mural project joint-manager Greg Brennan said the final locations are yet to be decided.
He said: "We are bringing over artists from Belfast to work alongside our own artists and produce something which will brighten up the city for capital of culture year.
"We want to create a talking point which will be interesting to locals and tourists.
"Hopefully the murals will be eye-catching and have longevity.
"The funding was given the go ahead after we had a very positive meeting with Phil Redmond and we're very excited. …
