Yesterday's first working day for more than 6,000 personnel of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), along with 31.5 million public and private sector workers, was smooth and orderly after two sets of long Yuletide holidays, the longest in years.
Acting Comelec Chairman Resurreccion Z. Borra said poll personnel in the main and field offices came to work fully refreshed and envigorated by the long holidays.
Similar reports came from the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) headed by Secretary Arturo Brion.
DoLE reported that government and private establishments all over the country operated in full force yesterday, particularly its attached agencies such as the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC), the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the Bureau of Working Condition, the Conciliation and Mediation Board (CMB), and the Bureau of Labor Standards.
The Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECoP) likewise reported that all its company-members had a normal and orderly working day yesterday.
