A total of 3,261 civil engineering examinees yesterday took the retake examination administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) despite the number of those who decided not to take the test.
PRC Chairperson Leonor Rosero-Tripon said there were only 1,515 civil engineering examinees who boycotted the exam retake given to the 4,476 examinees who were ordered by PRC to take a retake due to the irregularities found in the licensure exam last November.
"The retake examination pushed through as scheduled in testing centers inManila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, and Tacloban cities," Rosero said in a statement.
Rosero said the retake is optional, but the PRCwould not issue licenses to those who refuse to take the examination for the second time after the PRC decided to nullify the results.
Many examinees held vigils at the PRC central office in Sampaloc, Manila, and in other testing centers last Sarturday, the eve of the examination day to dramatize their opposition to the retake.
