BUSINESSES in Coventry and Warwickshire can now bid to grab a slice of pounds 30 billion of Olympicsrelated contracts.
The head of the London 2012 organising committee visited Coventry to launch an online service enabling companies to register for work.
Paul Deighton, chief executive of the committee which is organising the Olympic games, said businesses in Coventry and Warwickshire could raise their profile as a result of the games.
During his tour of the facilities at the University of Warwick he said: "It has been really energising. It is great to see all of the ideas about how the whole of the UK can participate.
The business community is really interested in the contracts that could be won. We need businesses of the highest quality to help deliver the games and it is not just about London. Coventry and Warwickshire is only an hour and a half away.
"It is also a great motivator for the workforce. They want to be part of it and they want to perform not only on the sports field but in business."
Companies taking a keen interest in opportunities include manufacturers of medals and regalia, hotels and leisure complexes, food and services suppliers and construction contractors.
