Three groundbreaking shows -- "Kung Fu Kids," "Lobo" and "Palos" -- are set to be shown tonight one after the other on ABS-CBN.
This is the first time in Philippine television that three grand shows are being launched on the same night.
This is to kick off the 55th year celebration of the network, and what better offering to its loyal viewers than three big shows that showcase the best of the network and the future of Philippine television?
Wanting to provide the proverbial extra mile in quality entertainment to its viewers at the start of their 55th year, ABS-CBN has even tied-up with Hollywood companies to bring international performers in the country, like big concerts of top Kapamilya talents, grand gathering through the kapamilya Caravan, immortalizing Philippine showbiz icons with "Cinema FPJ: Da King on ABSCBN," "Sineserye Presents: The Susan Roces Cinema Collection," the upcoming "Ramon Revilla Sr. Collection" and many more.
Indeed, ABS-CBN has a lot of things to offer for its Kapamilyas this 2008, and to get the ball rolling, the network presents its empowered line-up of its Primetime Bida Block, including the premiere episodes of their biggest shows this year, "Kung Fu Kids," "Palos" and "Lobo."
"Lobo," it could be said, is the network's most ambitious undertaking so far, as ambitious as putting together two of the hottest names in local showbiz today, Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin, dubbed the country's ultimate leading man, and the most controversial female celebrity of 2007.
The two are teamed up for the first time on television via "Lobo," which is the story of ill-fated lovers who will go against all odds to be together, defying and challenging whatever force that conspires to tear them apart.
"Lobo" is a most awaited show if only because it's the first real project of Angel for her new home studio since she moved over to the Kapamilya network. Everybody is awaiting to find out if she'd make as good an impression and performance as she did in her GMA shows like "Darna" and "Mulawin."
Angel and Piolo had a good working relationship, she said, and she thanked him for the support he gave her during their taping, especially for the first few days.
About the project, Angel has this to say: "It feels good that ABS-CBN took time and effort for this project because I think we are all one in believing that we have to give our audience only the best! That's why I'll always be grateful to ABS-CBN for this dramatic vehicle."
Piolo, on the other hand said "I'm also thankful that the network continues to trust me with such noteworthy projects. Thank you Tita Malou, Direk Olive for giving me 'Lobo' and for giving me an opportunity to work with Angel. I've known her as a co-worker and as an actress. But I'm happy that I gained a friend in her while working on this project."
"Lobo," directed by FM Reyes ("Maging SIno Ka Man") and Cathy GarciaMolina ("You Got Me," "You're the One," "One More Chance") also stars Shaina Magdayao, Ryan Eigenmann, Robert Arevalo, Agot Isidro, Dimples Romana, Maritoni Fernandez, Nash Aguas, Lauren Young, Janus del Prado, AJ Perez, Gio Alvarez, Irma Adlawan, Dante Rivero and Ms. Pilar Pilapil, with the special participation of Diether Ocampo, Bobby Andrews, Kier Legaspi, Angel Aquino, Sharlene San Pedro, Jacob Dionisio and Sheryl Cruz.

Environmental psychology in "Romancing the Rat" show
A most interesting and much awaited show for the Chinese New Year will air on Monday, Feb. 4, from 8 p.m. over ABC-5.
It's interesting because it's the Year of the Rat, a year when the Romance Star shines bright. It's also the time to join the Rat Race and be No.1 in joy, health and wealth, abundance and prosperity, luck and success. It's a special night when feng shui Master Joseph Chau shares the secrets of the planet's resources -- fire, earth, air, water, metal and wood -- with all who believe and are about to believe in the magic of what the West now calls "environmental psychology. …
