ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines has expressed optimism that one day, the peace and order condition in Sulu will be stabilized and sustained amid a full-swing economic-based approach to fighting poverty-related problems in the island province.
In a concerted multi-million subsidy posted by local, national and foreign benefactors in grant status, the province of Sulu is groomed to be the center of the island provinces of the autonomous region with Basilan and Tawi-Tawi alongside.
Military information officer, Air Force Major Gamal Hayudini said the provincial government of Sulu, the local military, the national government, United States forces and foreign donors are one in pouring in substantial economic support for the province. Hayudini commands the AFP 4th Civil Relations Group, Civil Relations Service, based in this city.
We are optimistic that our efforts for Sulu will gather positive results. The peace and order condition has greatly improved. Our challenge is on its sustainability. However with the bulk of economic inputs implemented for the province that enhances massive development, socio-political-economic stability is imminent, he stressed.
Sulu Governor Abdusakur Tan said foreign and local stakeholders of peace are adopting an 80 percent economic approach on the Sulu situation backed with 20 percent military surgical operation in dealing with the over-all condition of the province, he stressed. …
