COACH Paul Turner revealed how Marc Stcherbina broke down while speaking to the Dragons players before their Heineken Cup clash with Toulouse.
Aussie centre Stcherbina suffered a fractured neck during last weekend's encounter with the three-times European champions out in France.
He underwent surgery to stabilise his condition and stayed in hospital in Toulouse for four days, but having flown back to the UK on Thursday he was up and about yesterday and eager to catch up with his team-mates.
So, wearing a neck brace but walking unaided, the 32-year-old visited Rodney Parade and talked to the players before the match.
Dragons boss Turner explained: "I spoke to Marc this morning (Saturday) and he said he wanted to come up.
"He came down and he just broke down speaking to the players before the game. It was very emotional. It gave the boys a great lift.
"Rugby union these days is a hell of a physical game and those sort of injuries can happen.
