Las Pinas City Mayor Vergel Aguilar has ordered intensified police patrol and visibility operations particularly this holiday season notwithstanding the fact that the reported crime rate remains low.
Aguilar also enjoined residents for their cooperation in surveillance and crime monitoring through the "Ugnayan sa Barangay" to ensure security in their respective areas and thwart crime incidents.
The mayor issued the directive following a briefing with city police chief Senior Supt. Amando Clifton Empiso on the status of the overall security procedures adopted, particularly near business establishments, schools, churches and other populated areas in the city.
Aguilar said he has called for contingency measures to be put in place on top of the deployment of Special Weapons and Tactic Unit (SWAT) elements and the regular mobile and foot patrol, and checkpoints in strategic places.
The local chief executive at the same time urged the cooperation of all civilian security volunteers in the city's 20 barangays whose role in crime prevention and crime solving, he said, is evident in the maintenance of peace and order. …
