The development of irrigation delivery system and of fish breeding are among the eight priority livelihood generation projects to be financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) up to 2010.Aside from the Livelihood Improvement Program (LIP), another major JICA grant-funded program up to 2010 is the Technical Cooperation Grassroots Projects (TCGP) which includes mainly food safety standard Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) for organic farming. The TGCP covers three projects.Under the LIP, the National Irrigation Administration’s project for strengthening support for irrigators associations will be in Regions 1, 3, 6, and 11. This will be up to December 2010.The Comprehensive Outreach of Fish Breeding Project, directly implemented by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, will be carried out up to April 2010 and is situated in areas suitable for fish breeding in Region 1 (Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur), Region 3, and Region 4-B.For the promotion of location-specific, integrated high-yielding rice and rice-based technologies, JICA will fund up to November this year the development of rice varieties under the Philippine Rice Research Institute will be implemented by the Philippine Rice Research Institute (Philrice).It will be implemented in Nueva Ecija, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and La Union.For a forestry program, the enhancement of Community-Based Forest Management of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Forest Management Bureau will be completed up to June this year. …
