AS thousands of holidaying schoolchildren across the region head to backyard pools to keep cool, councillors are getting all steamed up about pool safety.
Rockhampton Regional Council's health and regulatory services committee yesterday ordered a crackdown and promised random checks at nearly 4000 approved domestic pools.
Committee chairman Cr Tony Williams said he was passionate about enforcing regulations and urged parents to be aware of the risks associated with inflatable pools.
