Australian Grant Open to Mining-Related Studies

Recognizing the need to beef up human resource development in the field of mining, the Australian Embassy will be starting a scholarship program next month that would provide scholarships to college students taking up studies related to mining.The Philippines-Australia Resources Education Excellence Program (PAREEP), to be managed by the Australian Government Aid Program through the Philippines Australia Human Resource Development Facility, will provide Filipino college students access to scholarships for studying mining-related courses like mining engineering, geology, metallurgy, mine safety, environmental management and community development, said the Australian Embassy in the Philippines.“Australian expertise in responsible and sustainable mining is recognized globally. We are pleased to contribute and assist in the development of the mining industry in the Philippines,” Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Rod Smith said.“The Philippines has huge potential to further develop its mineral wealth to provide local employment and investment opportunities that can contribute substantially to economic development and poverty alleviation,” he added. …
