A COMIC play will help to raise awareness about diabetes and its complications as it tours Wales.
Diabetes UK Cymru is taking free performances of All Shook Up to schools and community venues during a three-week tour next month.
The play will be performed by Pyramid Theatre Company, which is the UK's only national touring theatre-in-health education company.
The play tells the story of Frank, a lorry driver by day and Elvis tribute artist by night, who is diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
It shows how Frank, his family, and friends deal with the condition and its complications, including sexual dysfunction. After each performance, the actors will remain in character to answer questions from the audience about issues in the play.
It has been funded by money raised by the Young Farmers Clubs in Wales.
Dai Williams, national director of Diabetes UK Cymru, said: "Type 2 diabetes is rising rapidly in Wales and around 45,000 people have type 2 and don't know it.
"We know that people can live with diabetes for up to 10 years before being diagnosed, which means many already have serious complications such as heart disease and kidney disease. …
