Walk for Literacy Benefits Adult Tutoring Group

The 13th annual Walk for Literacy returns this weekend to Van Patten Woods near Zion. Along with a 5K walk, participants have the chance to win prizes and take part in raffles. Local students are encouraged to participate.

The walk benefits Literacy Volunteers of Lake County, a nonprofit group dedicated to helping adult literacy students and strengthening family literacy programs.

The major sponsor this year is Air Con Refrigeration and Heating of Waukegan, which has been a strong supporter of the organization u and the walk u from the very beginning, according to Teta Minuzzo, the groupAEs chairwoman.

"Our program trains volunteer tutors and provides GED classes and tutoring services for adult learners, as well as family literacy programs in Zion, North Chicago, Waukegan, Lake Villa and Round Lake," Minuzzo said.

Q. Why is the charity important to you? Is there a specific person who inspires you?
