David, the Warrior King by David J Ferreira (Bridge- Logos) is the first in a series based on the life of David as it appears in the first book of Samuel in the Bible. Ferreira follows David's life from the time he was anointed Israel's future king, to when he became king.
The reader must not assume anything as truth and accept nothing as fact, without referring to the Bible or other historical sources, says Ferreira. This does not mean the book is not well researched. Ferreira consulted seven books on the topic and a number of university theses and texts translated from the Hebrew.
The main themes are the tormented Saul planning to slay his rival, David, and the extensive wars with the Philistines. The book would be incomplete if it did not include the tense David and Goliath scene, rendered by Ferreira in an engaging way.
