Palatine Library Director Earns Special Certification

Susan Strunk, director, Palatine Public Library District, has earned the designation of Certified Public Library Administrator.

Strunk, who has been director of the library since July 2007, is one of just 15 librarians nationwide to have earned this certification, to date.

In 2006, the American Library Association created a process for librarians with five or more years of managerial experience to earn certification by completing seven courses consisting of four required courses and three electives.

Core courses include study of budget and finance, building maintenance, management of technology and organization and personnel administration. Strunk selected …
