JOHN TERRY could lose [pounds sterling]5 million in sponsorship deals as a result of his affair with former lingerie model Vanessa Perroncel.
Experts say his relationship with the former partner of team-mate Wayne Bridge will prevent him from securing the contracts enjoyed by previous England captains.
Terry, 29, now has little prospect of emulating David Beckham, who was a magnet to sponsors such as Vodafone, Gillette and Pepsi. They offered endorsement contracts estimated to be worth between [pounds sterling]3 million and [pounds sterling]5 million each.
Andy Sutherden, managing director of sports marketing and sponsorship at Hill & Knowlton, said: "There are not many of these deals around and Terry will be very unlikely to snap one up after what has happened.
"People who manage these brands' budgets want trust and transparency from their ambassadors but Terry has not got a very good track record."
However, Mr Sutherden said Terry's ability to sell sports goods as "one of the best footballers on the planet" may not be harmed. …
