Bowes Going Greek for a Week

Article excerpt

MAGICAL tales inspired by art and Greek myths are set to enthrall young visitors to The Bowes Museum during half-term week.

Popular story teller Adam Bushnell will be at the Barnard Castle attraction on Tuesday, February 16, as part of its Going Greek! week.

Between 11am and 4pm, Adam will be inter-weaving ancient Greek legends and myths inspired by art in the museum's collections.

Afterwards, there'll be other themed activities to keep children entertained, such as Greek monster model-making and Medusa mask-making using paper plates and craft materials to create her slithery snakes for hair. There'll also be a trail, using leaflets and maps, taking in Greek-inspired pottery, statues and porcelain characters, plus free colouring sheets and word searches based around key Greek characters.

All activities are drop-in and free with the admission price to the museum, which is pounds 8 for adults and pounds 7 concessions. Under-16s enter free.

And during half-term week, teenagers won't miss out either. …
