A PAIR of Sunshine Coast tourists on a chance swim in the rain has reunited a missing man with his anxious family a thanks to the Daily's website.
Musician Nick Risteski, 26, arrived at Sunshine Beach on Thursday morning not knowing that he and a newfound friend would provide the happy ending the MacDermott family had been praying for after 36 hours.
Mr Risteski, a member of electro rock band Jomo, said he had heard about the mysterious disappearance of 74-year-old Denis MacDermott when he arrived to check in at Dolphins Beach House backpackers at Sunshine Beach at Noosa.
He had wanted to take some photographs at Noosa National Park, but was told he may not be allowed with the wide scale search under way for Mr MacDermott.
"I was told about the missing man and a little bit of information about him," Mr Risteski said.
Staff at the popular Noosa backpackers accommodation house had printed out a copy of The Daily's online story and photo of Mr MacDermott and posted it at reception.
Dolphins Beach House' staff member Anna Staley said Mr MacDermott's son had visited them yesterday morning asking for assistance in helping to locate his father.
