The Department of Agriculture (DA) has distributed 55 swine in the Zamboanga Peninsula under its Swine Restocking Program (SRP).
Beneficiaries under the program were breeders in Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, Zambaonga Sibugay and Zamboanga City.
SRP intends to increase the genetic, productive and reproductive capacity of breeders and provide income generation of the local government units (LGUs) Artificial Insemination (AI) services of their Satellite Swine AI and Breeding Centers.
It also aims to provide and increase the market and economic opportunity of smallholders producing fatteners or slaughter animals through access to good genetic materials from the AI centers.
SRP targets Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) accredited breeder farms.
The beneficiaries of the swine from Zamboanga del Sur are the LGU Swine Satellite AI Centers in Pagadian City, Mahayag, Josefina, Dinas, Guipos, Dimataling, Bayog, Margosatubig and Dumalinao. Each recipient received one boar and a gilt.
In Zamboanga del Norte, 13 pigs were received by the recipients from the municipality of Sibutad, Sergio Osmena, Labason, Katipunan, Rizal, Siayan, Polanco, Salug, Tampilisan, Liloy and the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO). …
