The 37 new posts at MITIE Security Ltd welcomed by Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster, bring to almost 250 the number or jobs announced within the province in the past week.
Mrs Foster visited the centre of a unique operation at the companyCOs base at Silverwood Industrial Park, where it has set up a state of the art technology centre called MiTec.
MITIECOs security business is part of the MITIE Group which employs over 56,000 people and provides facilities, property and asset management services. Its clients include Rolls-Royce, UBS and Marks & Spencer.
When complete in March 2011, the state of the art facility will be the most advanced non-military installation in the UK, capable of remote monitoring of CCTV and alarm systems, vehicle tracking, lone worker support, helpdesks and screening and vetting services.
The centralised communications hub is the first of its kind in the UK. It will monitor buildings across the UK Co including banks, corporate offices and business parks and transport hubs regardless of distance or location and has the capability to reach as far away as America and New Zealand.
The building will feature highly advanced security features in order to keep it secure. These include reinforced bombproof walls and C[pounds sterling]Mission ImpossibleC[yen] style vibration detecting floors, ceilings and walls that can sense intruders. …
