FLORIDA GATORS

Coach: Billy Donovan (331-139, 15th season; 366-159 overall, 17th season)

2009-10 record: 21-13 (9-7 SEC, fourth in East Division).

Postseason: Lost 99-92 (2 OT) to BYU in first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Who's back: Erving Walker (G, 5-8, Jr., 12.6 ppg, 4.9 apg); Kenny Boynton (G, 6-2, So., 14.0 ppg, 2.7 apg); Chandler Parsons (F, 6-10, Sr., 12.4 ppg, 6.9 rpg); Alex Tyus (F, 6-8, Sr., 11.8 ppg, 6.9 rpg); Vernon Macklin (C, 6-10, Sr., 10.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg); Erik Murphy (F, 6-9, So., 3.5 ppg, 2.4 rpg); Adam Allen (F, 6-8, Jr., 4.0 ppg, 0.8 rpg in 2007-08).

Who's gone: Dan Werner (F, 6.3 ppg, 4.3 rpg); Ray Shipman (G/F, 3.3 ppg, 1.3 rpg); Kenny Kadji (F/C, 3.7 ppg, 2.3 rpg); Rod Tishman (G, 0.6 ppg, 0.6 rpg).

All eyes on: Boynton and Walker. Because of a lack of depth in the backcourt, Donovan was forced to play Walker and Boynton 32.9 minutes per game. That hindered their offensive game, particularly their shooting. Boynton shot 29.4 percent from 3-point range. Walker was marginally better at 34.7 percent. Those two took 438 of UF's 638 3-pointers and were the main reason the Gators shot 31.3 percent from 3-point range - the worst performance in Donovan's tenure. More depth should ease their minutes total so they should shoot better.

Breaking in: F Patric Young. The 6-foot-9, 225-pound forward/center from Providence School instantly makes the Gators more physical. His offensive game needs some work at the college level, but he's a monster in the paint and on the glass. Donovan is treating Young the same way he treated Al Horford as a freshman: emphasizing defense and rebounding the first year and letting the offense come on garbage points. Just as Horford did, Young is embracing that role.

Other new faces: Scottie Wilbekin (G, 6-2); Will Yeguete (F, 6-2); Casey Prather (G-F, 6-6); Cody Larson (F, 6-9)
